"Ice-Out" in the Catskills means FISHING! Every April 1st (NYS Trout Opening Day) the Fly Fisherman head for the Trout streams of the Catskills. The next rock, or the next cut could hold a just released hatchery fish, or the Trout of a lifetime. Jeffersonville is bordered by Callicoon Creek which, including it's East and North branches, will be stocked with over 6,000 Brown Trout this year (2015).

To the south of us is the Neversink River which will be stocked with over 8,000 Brown Trout this year (2015).

Located just 15 minutes North of Lake Jeff cottage is the town of Roscoe a.k.a. "Trout Town USA" where the Willowemoc and Beaverkill meet. These waters are famous among East Coast Fly Fisherman. Combined these 2 rivers will receive over 20,000 brown trout to compliment the native rainbows.

Neversink Reservoir

Open to canoes, kayaks and sailboats, as well as rowboats for fishing – open Memorial Day through Columbus Day.

Neversink Reservoir Unique Area

This is a great little river to explore by tube or kayak. Best enjoyed early in the summer when the river is at its highest. This untouched and highly protected place truly is a “unique area.”

Deleware River

Basha Kill Wildlife Area

The Basherkill Fishing Platform allows casting access right at the water control structure for the "Basha Kill" wetland, where it flows into the Basher Kill (stream).

The Basha Kill contains largemouth bass, chain pickerel, panfish, and bowfin. Seasonally, gizzard shad have been found in the Basha Kill, schools of them have been observed at this location in the past.

Crystal Lake Wild Forrest

The lake, which DEC manages for brook trout, is very popular for fishing. There is a boat launching area for car top or trailored boats.

Visitors to the Crystal Lake Wild Forest should be properly prepared and equipped for a remote, wildlands experience. Visitors should expect to assume a high degree of responsibility for their own welfare and for environmentally sound use of the area

Ice fishing sullivan county
